ENGINEER I

Description of Job Duties

This position is responsible for the design and permitting of agency projects with a focus on boating access including preparation of project plans and specifications, and submission of stamped engineering drawings to the Finance Cabinet for construction contract procurement. This position will manage multiple Capital Construction Projects and will provide engineering guidance for statewide properties and facilities.

Characteristics of the Job :
Performs professional engineering work in the review, design, construction and maintenance of facilities or structures; manages and oversees activities of engineering projects and/or programs. Applies engineering principles to produce computerized engineering reports, plans and drawings; and performs other duties as required.

Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements :
Work is typically performed in both an office setting and in the field making on-site inspections. Some hazardous conditions may exist at construction sites and surveying hazardous terrain. Extensive travel may be required.

Additional Requirements :
Upon appointment, employees in this class may be required to maintain a valid driver’s license and required to drive a licensed vehicle. This status may be necessary for the length of time in this class. If this is necessary it will be listed in the specific position description for that position.
