This position involves the commissioning of new books and new editions in the fields of addictions, autism spectrum disorders, art therapy, eating disorders, school psychology, and more. Candidates should be able to work independently and as part of a team of editors and should be comfortable handling a range of product types, including handbooks, academic, and professional books.

The key focus of the job will be maintaining a forward-thinking strategy for the list, building on our reputation for high-quality books and pinpointing growth areas.

The ideal background includes:

• BA or equivalent educational experience and at least two years’ experience in an editorial capacity
• You are a self-starter who can work independently, while liaising effectively with other team members
• Be enthusiastic about the subject matter, will be willing to travel extensively, and possess strong commercial awareness.

Prior commissioning experience is ideal, but just as importantly, we are looking for someone with passion, energy, maturity and extremely good organizational and interpersonal skills.

The job title will be subject to experience and this position will be based in New York City
