Summary of Responsibilities: Reporting to the VP of Operations, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Developing communication strategies and executing public relations programs within the local/regional/ markets as appropriate. Proactive media liaison. Serve as a key contact in the region for the media, industry partners and the community. Create opportunities with local organizations to raise the profile of organizations brand. Develop and foster community relationships and partnerships for the organization. Develop and build positive relationships with media and industry partners in key markets. Develop joint regional and national promotional opportunities with sister organizations. Develop and maintain all media lists and contact information; maintain local community VIP lists.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an up-to-date photo and video library, including a photographic record of all media and special events
  • Conduct individual and media familiarization trips. Work with tourism and airline partners as appropriate
  • Liaise with marketing partnerships
  • Assist marketing team in creating promotional programs with media outlets (radio, digital, print, television)
  • Write and disseminate press kits, releases, editors’ advisories, calendar listings
  • Continually feed Corporate PR and related agencies with organization news and current events
  • Develop and manage monthly public relations and coverage support producing appropriate monthly reports to showcase PR clippings and impressions (sizzle reel)
  • Act as spokesperson for the organization and as a member of the crisis management team
  • Leverage participation in national corporate public relations initiatives to support brand awareness both locally and nationally.
  • Work with internal clients to leverage advertising and marketing programs, create and manage annual PR budget, and promote Sales & Marketing revenue initiatives
  • Serve as secondary point of contact for social media when Marketing Manager is out of the office.
  • Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in communications/PR or journalism with 2-3 years PR/Marketing experience preferably at a public relations firm (but not required)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must
  • Proven ability to create, maintain and sustain partnerships within industry and community
  • Strong computer literacy, especially with Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Demonstrated experience using user-generated content sites, blogs and social networks
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; able to read and interpret marketing reports and make recommendations; as well as ability to understand and interpret financial data
  • Excels at online research, possesses excellent writing skills and the ability to produce out editorial at a moment’s notice.
  • The ability to identify threats and opportunities within the user generated content space and make quick decisions
  • A subject matter expert on Social Media tools — knows them, has used them all, understands differences, benefits, etc – and has ability to educate internal audiences
