Job Title: Director for Curriculum Planning and Assessment

Department: Curriculum Planning and Assessment, Office of the Provost

Reports to: Assistant Provost for Curriculum Planning and Assessment

FLSA: Exempt

Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (extended hours when requested)

Location : Orange Beach, AL

Summary

The Director of Curriculum Planning and Assessment leads college-based curriculum planning and outcomes assessment practices through effective collaboration with Faculty, Program Directors, Assistant Provosts, Instructional Design and Technology, Institutional Research and Assessment, and Administration.

Essential Job Tasks Additional duties may be assigned.

Benchmarks, plans, monitors, assesses, and improves degree program curricula through innovative curriculum planning and learning outcome assessment to improve student learning.

Directs, implements, and monitors outcomes assessment initiatives through collaboration with Academic Assistant Provosts, Academic Program Directors, and Lead Faculty, to assess and improve student learning, as well as assists Academic Program Directors and Instructional Design and Technology to determine the appropriate measurement of learning outcomes.

Collaborates with Instructional Design and Technology to ensure course quality and document course attributes that align with curriculum assessment.

Contributes to institutional effectiveness assessment and strategic planning and collaborates with Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation to maintain compliance with all accrediting agencies’ curriculum standards by analyzing, interpreting, and communicating assessment findings and providing technical expertise in instrument selection.

Serves on institutional committees, advisory boards, professional groups, and public relations bodies to ensure program promotion, promotion and implementation of best practice policy, and the use of direct and indirect learning assessment methods to demonstrate student learning across colleges, General Education, and support units.

Education & Experience

A master’s degree in an education-related field is required; a doctoral degree is preferred.

Experience with curriculum planning and outcomes assessment is required.

Experience with higher education and accreditation processes is preferred.

Office equipment (e.g., computers, telephones, printers, faxes, copiers).

Software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Blackboard, internal database software).

Work Environment

Works primarily within a climate controlled environment in an office setting. The work is mostly sedentary with frequent sitting, occasional walking and lifting, and frequent near vision use for reading and computer use. Noise level is generally moderate.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
