Director – Engineering

Description
General multi-discipline knowledge of design techniques and analysis methods, and general knowledge of the theory, content and application of statutory codes and guidelines as applicable for offshore.

• Leverage the performance of managers to achieve objectives through goal settings, assessment and coaching
• Shape and integrate functional strategies
• Propose scope splits between MDT Engineering offices and/or subcontractors (as applicable) at bid stage and at award
• Negotiate on behalf of Engineering office with Fabrication Marine and Project Management Teams to ensure best-for-MDR schedules and execution plans within agreed budgets
• Attend project kickoff and review meetings, engineering meetings, and bid review meetings, as required
• Interface with peers and Global Engineering
• Ensure availability and allocate discipline manpower resources as required to provide agreed deliverables and meet agreed schedule’s and budgets
• Approve departmental key documents and drawings such as:
  • Progress and productivity reports
  • Requisition for software, computers, and other departments expense
  • Expense reports
  • Estimates for proposals, including cost, schedule and man-hour estimates and execution plans
  • Forecasting reports
  • Project-specific procedures and design reports
  • Level 2&3 procedures
• Conduct staff feedback meetings
• Direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems
• Keep the Senior Director, Area Manager and Project Management Teams apprised of high-level activities and concerns, technical, budgetary and manpower related
• Approve department manpower, training Development and assist in recruiting resources
• Provide leadership and direction for multiple disciplines with an engineering offices (s) and/or department(s) through Senior Managers and Managers (as applicable).
• Accountable for the performance and results of multiple disciplines within an engineering offices (s) and/or department(s).
• Apply managerial expertise to develop financial and operational objectives.
• Direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems that cross functional lines
• Develop business plans to achieve functional, regional, and/or global matrix objectives
• Negotiate with customer and/or organization leadership to set priorities.

Requirements
Education

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Master Degree is Preferred)
• Preferable registered professional or chartered engineer or member of professional engineering society

Experience

• 22-years in offshore Oil and Gas with major contractor or consultant
• Detailed knowledge of project execution, managerial and business skills
• Has significant impact of functional business results
