DevOps Engineer

DevOps Engineer – Downtown Boston, MA

Full-time or contract to hire

An Educational Software Technology firm is looking to hire a DevOps Engineer in their Downtown Boston office. As a DevOps Engineer you will be part of a highly collaborative team that supports scalable and stable applications in an Amazon cloud network. They are looking for someone who can enforce continuous deployment best practices across the organization, identify risk and problem, build new infrastructure and optimize current systems.

In this position, you will:

· Design, develop, and support mission-critical operations services, including load balancing, infrastructure provisioning, and monitoring

· Ensure all our systems are secure, scalable, responsive, and reliable

· Create tools and workflows to support our software engineers with testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery

· Help define and build the next generation of deployment, provisioning, monitoring, alerting, logging, and metrics in our world class engineering organization

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent job related experience

· Strong Linux (preferably with Red Hat or Suse) administration experience

· Experience with building and operating software in the cloud (AWS preferred)

· Highly skilled in one or more of the following: Shell, PHP, Python, or PERL

· Configuration management experience using tools such as Ansible or Puppet

· Hands-on experience with Jenkins or other CI/DevOps tool sets

· Familiarity with configuration management systems and concepts

· Experience with secure system configuration and security principles

· Familiarity with any of the systems and tools we use, including Apache, Tomcat, LogicMonitor, AppNeta, ELK (ElasticSearch/LogStash/Kibana), and DynaTrace

· Proven troubleshooting experience, and a talent for solving hard problems

· Experience working with and managing third party service providers

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate technical issues to nontechnical and technical audiences

· Experience working in an agile, fast paced, team centered environment
