Desktop Support Specialist

Summary

Support IT department and users for all computer and IT needs. Incumbent may install, modify and make minor repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems, and provide technical advice and support to system users. Secondary functions would also be to help with Server, Network and system engineering.

Essential Functions

1. Installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and disk drives.

2. Loads appropriate software packages such as operating systems, networking components and office applications, including imaging of user laptops and desktops.

3. Assists in the customization and adaptation of existing programs to meet users’ requirements.

4. Provides telephone, in-person and online support to end-users.

5. Coordinates activities with network services and information systems groups.

6. Provides updates, status and completion information to manager and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail or in-person communication.

7. Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.

8. Connects users to networks and provides initial training in facilities and applications.

9. Administers e-mail and anti-virus systems.

10. Manage users and policies in Active Directory and Office 365.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Position is in a busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by an elevator
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • 2 or more years IT or closely related field
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Office 365, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Possesses strong data analysis and problem solving skills
  • Highly accurate and detail oriented
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure
  • Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Education and Experience

Associates Degree in related filed is highly preferred
