Desktop Administrator

Job Description – Desktop Admin Support

This position is internal and will be representative of the IT department. This candidate should be personable and helpful at all times.

Primary Duties

Installation, configuration, maintenance and support of desktop and laptop computer systems

Development of preventive maintenance procedures for desktop and laptop computer systems

Create and Manage AD user accounts and permissions for non-privileged user accounts

Maintenance of corporate servers and services providing internal resources including, but not limited to: AD, DFS, Print, DNS, VPN, System Imaging Servers, System and Application Management, etc.

Performance of data recovery and preservation for desktop and laptop computer systems

Troubleshooting technical issues on desktop and laptop computer systems as reported by employees

Perform repairs and replacements of hardware and software in relation to desktop and laptop computer systems

Oversee inventory management of Desktops, Laptops, and other electronic devices assigned to individual employees

Creation and maintenance of administrator and end-user documentation

Secondary Duties

Perform routine maintenance on other servers and systems not identified under the supervision of a Systems Administrator

Assist in the support and management of corporate anti-virus software

Develop best-practices in relation to corporate server maintenance and troubleshooting under the guidance of a Systems Administrator

Perform security and best practice audits under the supervision of a Systems Administrator on, but not limited to: AD, DFS, VPN, etc.

Qualifications

5+ years of supporting desktop operating systems, or 3+ with a current CompTIA A+ or equivalent.

3+ years networking experience, or 1+ with a current CompTIA Network+, Security+ or equivalent

5+ years of solid experience supporting Microsoft operating systems and products, or 3+ years with MCSA (Windows 8 or 10) or MCTS (Windows 7) or equivalent

Knowledge of troubleshooting Microsoft Office

Experience with Enterprise End-Point Anti-Virus applications

Experience with Microsoft technologies to include but not limited to: AD, Print Server, DFS, DNS, BitLocker, WDS, WSUS

Self-starter who takes the initiative to identify issues and see them through to resolution
