Designer/Draftsperson

Summary:

The Designer/Draftsperson 2 main responsibility is to assist in the creation, maintenance and publication of the Architectural Design Manual (ADM) with a secondary responsibility, as required, to work with Senior Designers and Product Engineers to carry out a variety of Design/Drafting tasks which may include the development of new products and improvements to existing products to improve the performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • This position requires some training and supervision by Architectural Design Manual Manager.
  • Prepare entry level architectural sketches and drawings by rendering sectional, multi-views, sub-assemblies, pictorials and dimensions using computer aided design (CAD). Working with both 2-D and 3-D models.
  • Communicates issues with Architectural Design Manual Manager, Product Engineers, and Senior Designers.
  • Prepares basic to moderately complex mechanical/architectural sketches and drawings by rendering sectional, auxiliary, and multi-views, sub-assemblies, pictorials, dimensions, and developments; producing two- and three-dimensional orthographic projections using computer aided design (CAD) and pictorial techniques; producing three-dimensional (3-D) models.
  • Modifies documents and drawings by analyzing, resolving, and incorporating changes.
  • Perform preliminary drawing check before the drawing is submitted to Architectural Design Manual Manager, Senior Designer, or Product Engineer.
  • Produce copies of documents as needed.
  • May be called upon to check drawings/work done by other Designers.
  • Update red lines.
  • Communicate document, drafting, and design issues with Architectural Design Manual Manager.
  • Assist in Architectural Design Manual Standards development.
  • Communicate work load with Architectural Design Manual Manager.

Preferred Position Requirements:

  • Education: AS or two-year technical degree in Design/Drafting and/or Pursuing BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • CAD and Drafting Skills, experience with AutoCAD and Inventor preferred. Revit/BIM experience a plus.
  • Microsoft office (Word, Excel)
  • Experience: 3-5 years
  • Entry to mid-level position in terms of the complexity of work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires some supervision and training as a Designer.
