DESIGN – Illustrator / Textile Designer

Design Imports is a leader in the home textile and gift industry with over 25 years of experience designing, sourcing, and producing quality kitchen textiles, table linens, ceramics, and decorative accessories for wholesale distribution to large and small retailers throughout the country.

We are looking for an in house Illustrator/Textile Designer to work closely with our product development team to develop fun, fresh designs for table linens, housewares & gift items. We need someone with a flair for cute, a sense of whimsy, and a charming style to join our creative team.

As a member of the team you will design exciting, creative seasonal assortments of prints, plaids, embroideries, stripes & jacquard (for table linens, kitchen towels, etc.) based on the trends, styles, motifs & colors established by the lead designer. We need someone with a creative and practical mind to develop designs that are adorable, functional and production viable.

About You:

• Degree in Graphic / Apparel Design or related field.
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Adobe CC, mainly Illustrator (PC platform) and Microsoft Office.
• Extremely detail-oriented, thorough and well organized.
• Ability to receive projects and output a high volume of artwork: motifs, patterns, themes, and color stories.
• Ability to translate artwork into marketable product.
• Strong organizational, written/verbal communication and time management skills.
• Desire and ability to work under pressure under tight deadlines, prioritize, and exhibit grace under pressure.
• Thorough understanding of basic design principles including color, illustration and composition.
• Understanding of textiles/weaving would be desirable but not required.
• Commitment to professionalism, hard work and high quality creativity.
