Position Summary:
The Database/Programming Technician works within Business Technologies of Auxiliary Services (AuxSvcs) to manage and develop databases and database-driven applications. Key roles include: documenting, maintaining and updating legacy systems; working with colleagues in Business Technologies to create new database-driven applications and reports for AuxSvcs; providing guidance to leadership on best practices for growth and security of our existing systems; and working with customers in AuxSvcs to support key programs and develop new data-driven applications. The Database/Programming Technician works with other programmers and departments on campus to ensure high standards are maintained for quality and security of projects. Candidate should be a self-starting team player, ready to work directly with customers and other colleagues to accomplish projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (CompSci / MIS), or combination of education and experience.

Experience in designing and implementing database applications (SQL Server/Oracle)

Experience writing data queries in T-SQL and/or PL/SQL.

Experience in the installation and maintenance of database software.

Experience designing web-based, data-driven applications using technologies like ASP.Net and/or PHP.

Ability to organize and analyze data and communicate effectively with others both verbally and in writing.

Ability to prepare reports in a professional manner for technical and non-technical audiences.

Ability to manage time effectively and establish priorities in the completion of tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate and work closely with diverse groups and individuals.

Experience troubleshooting and resolving software, hardware and user problems.

Ability to provide end user instruction for supported programs.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Experience with Banner.

Experience migrating Microsoft Access to web-based data-driven applications.

Experience working in a higher education environment with FERPA-protected data.

Experience migrating LAMP sites to ASP.Net and SQL Server.
