Database Developer/MySQL

Our clients include integrated oil companies, major mining multinationals, as well as several of the world’s largest global electric utilities and power-generation firms. In addition, we work closely with the Global Markets group by supporting energy and commodity trading and sector analysis/portfolio management groups within financial institutions. We also collaborate with the other client services teams on a variety of strategic research projects and thematic workshops.

Candidate will be responsible for analyzing and maintaining existing production Microsoft Access databases to ensure that the databases are meeting business expectations and quality standards. Candidate will be expected to adhere to ‘Best Practices’ that existing Team has in place, including but not limited to, documenting business requirements and overall database workings. Candidate will be expected to work with complex Access Database features including Macros, SQL table integration, Forms and Reports. Candidate will also be expected to perform database testing first hand as well as coordinate UAT database testing with business lines.

In-depth business knowledge and understanding is helpful in this position. This role is expected to understand business policies and procedures and translate them into database design and workflow. The associate is required to communicate effectively to Senior Business Managers as well as act as a liaison between business and I.T. teams. when necessary.

Required Skills

A minimum of one to two years experience in Microsoft Access Databases development, support and analysis.

A minimum of one years prior experience performing various business analytics functions. (ie. queries, reports, data analysis).

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Access and Microsoft Project.

Team player with excellent initiative, follow-through, proven ability to work effectively with internal and external customers and manage time allocated among multiple projects.

Good communication and project management skills are a must – candidate must be comfortable and confident interfacing with the business teams.

Candidate must have some experience creating and documenting key project life-cycle deliverables, such as business requirements, functional design, test plan, test cases/scripts, etc.

Demonstrate ability to analyze and reason logically to provide effective solutions to complex problems.

Problem solving skills: Adept in responding to new information, shifting priorities, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles.
