The City of New York’s Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) is a rapidly expanding and fast-paced tribunal that conducts administrative hearings for a wide range of City agencies, boards and commissions. OATH seeks to hire a part-time data entry clerk to assist with the day to day operations of the Clerk’s Office. Data Entry Clerks work under supervision, with limited latitude for independent judgment, and perform clerical and related work. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Reviewing and entering decision into ACCELA database to ensure documentation of payment status;

• Reviewing and entering of settlements;

• Maintaining and updating listings of Inspector required hearings;

• Assisting inspectors with answering questions regarding summons numbers and hearing dates;

• Management of ACCELA update folder in database;

• Assisting with case creation, summons correction, and other related duties

Minimum Qual Requirements

The ability to understand and carry out simple instructions; in some cases the ability to speak Spanish may be required. There are no formal education requirements for this position.

Preferred Skills

¿ Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.

¿ Office experience necessary, as well as demonstrable background dealing with members of the public.

¿ Excellent oral and written communication skills.

¿ History of volunteerism, such as service in the AmeriCorps or Peace Corps, is viewed favorably.

Additional Information

1. A four (4) year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.

2. The ability to understand and carry out simple instructions.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
