Job Description:

We are seeking a mid to senior level Data Analytics Analyst to work on a fast-pace team responsible for monitoring and maintaining Data Quality within a very large Oracle production databases. You will find, investigate and map out strategies to correct data quality issues that impact numerous DMDC business areas that impact mostly military healthcare benefits, eligibility and entitlement. Your work will directly support service members and their families.

Responsibilities:

A typical day for you could involve:

  • Respond to urgent data quality issues that arise
  • Use SQL and PL/SQL to investigate, resolve, monitor data quality issues
  • Perform proactive analysis to discover and research previously unknown problem areas
  • Help the team expand the team’s suite of recurring and ad-hoc error reports to assess the state of DMDC’s data quality
  • Monitor reports for anomalies pointing to new issues requiring examination
  • Work closely with the team’s analysts, management, project managers, business analysts, developers, quality assurance and database administrators to determine root causes for data quality issues and devise remediation plans that both prevent future occurrences and restore data that has already been affected
  • Design and administer data collection tools, clean, merge and manage existing data sets as well as establish and maintain data quality procedures to ensure accuracy and timeliness of data

Qualifications:

To qualify, you must have these basic qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizens only due to government contract requirements
  • Must be clearable for DMDC Position of Trust
  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Experience with Relational Database concepts
  • PL/SQL or experience with other procedural programming language
  • Knowledge of SQL and SQL query optimization
  • BA/BS degree

Desired qualifications:

  • Advanced SQL skills/experience
  • Previous Department of Defense (DoD) assignment
  • Excellent problem solving, data quality/analytics ability
  • Ability to multi-task to manage differing sets of data requests and analytics
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Proficient at using Microsoft product suite (Words, Excel, Access, OneNote, etc.)
  • Oracle
  • Knowledgeable of or experience with data warehouse

Other qualifications:

  • Position demands active, continuous collaboration and learning about the business rules underlying DMDC’s many lines of business
  • Self-driven with ability to work on many concurrent projects and deliver results on each
  • Ability to counsel clients about the analytic process and how to use data to answer policy and program questions
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations on a regular basis and developing and implementing data visualizations and dashboards
  • Deliver quality work with attention to details
