Customer Service Specialist

Customer Service Specialists are responsible for interacting with all customers, donors and volunteers in a friendly and positive manner, and to handle the administrative portion of animal intake and adoptions. Full-time and Part-time hours available.

Responsibilities include:

• Enter & maintain accurate data for all animal intakes & adoptions
• Answer telephone & in-person questions
• Handle credit & cash transactions
• Greet people as they arrive at the shelter
• Ability to be friendly, empathetic and work in a collaborative spirit
• Work closely with other staff members

Skills Required:

• Solid computer skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced and somewhat stressful environment
• Be able to learn tasks assigned readily
• Display sincere tact, respect & compassion effectively with all customers
• Acquire working knowledge of state, county and city laws and ordinances relating to the care, treatment and regulation of animals
• Interact with dogs, cats and various other animals in a safe manner
• Ability to read, write and understand the English language
• Experience working in a customer service industry is a plus
• Experience working with a cash register is a plus
• Bilingual is a plus

Education / Physical Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED
• Associate Degree is preferred
• Two years experience performing customer service in an office environment preferred
• Animal related experience is preferred
• Must be able to stand, sit and use keyboard for extended amount of time.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Availability: WVHS is open 6 days a week and only closed for 2 holidays a year. Availability and a willingness to work a flexible schedule are required.

Must be 18 years of age and have a valid drivers license.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $9.00 /hour
