Curriculum Writer/Researcher

Flocabulary is seeking a Writer/Researcher in the Creative and Curriculum department to research, write and edit educational content for a range of grade levels and subject areas.

You are a strong writer with great research skills. You work quickly and aren’t scared of deadlines. You’re known for your attention to detail and trusted as the ‘final set of eyes’ on something. You can think creatively when it comes to how to present and teach content. You don’t mind juggling tasks simultaneously and you pick up new skills quickly. ResponsibilitiesYou will research and write content to support Flocabulary videos across subject areas. Since the material you create will teach students of all ages, you’ll need to be able to write for different reading levels. You will also be reviewing text and videos for educational value, ensuring the factual accuracy of everything Flocabulary produces. Specifically, the Writer/Researcher will:

• Research various topic areas with an eye for how they are currently taught in classrooms
• Synthesize research into notes to guide the lyricists who write our songs
• Review and fact check the lyrics and the visual assets in videos to ensure educational value
• Write informational text passages that offer relevant information for a given topic
• Create activities, quizzes and other teaching tools
• Use various data sources (Google analytics, user requests, CCSS) to help determine new topics to cover
• Edit and proofread content for various features across the site
• Manage projects within the department if needed

• You are a very strong writer who can work quickly
• You are an excellent researcher and fact-checker
• You’re equally comfortable working on your own or collaborating on projects
• You communicate easily and well about what you do and don’t know
• You were a great student and have a college degree
• Bonus points if you have done some tutoring or teaching
