Waushara County is currently accepting applications for a full-time Crisis/APS Social/Case Worker. This position will provide crisis intervention response for persons in need ofemergency mental health services, including emergency detentions, juvenile custodyintake and adult protective service investigations and intake. Knowledge ofprinciples/theories of social work practice – mental health, family systems, humanbehavior, health care conditions, rehabilitation, elder abuse and laws related todisabilities, aging and families. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field isrequired. State Certification as a Social Worker or must receive certification within 3 years of employment.

Position Summary :

  • Receives and responds to crisis/emergency calls and requests, providing thorough interviews, home visits, investigations and assesses the services needed in consultation with client, family, other caretakers, law enforcement and/or relevant medical personnel. Due to the responsibility of on-call coverage must be able to physically respond within 30 minutes.•Assesses the need for protective services and petitions the court, providing or makingarrangements for the comprehensive evaluation and testimony to support recommendations for placement within the least restrictive environment. Oversees, with the appropriate court personnel, Chapters 51/54 & 55 and Juvenile Intake, Chapters 938 and 48 of State Code.•Monitors and reviews caseload regularly, maintaining up to date records and documentation. Maintains files in accordance with agency and program specifications.• Assists families and individuals with alternate care plans and placements as appropriate.• Participates in the Crisis Intervention Team meetings as well as any other team or staffmeetings that may be required.•Maintains regular and predictable attendance.•Promote, get along and work in a harmonious relationship with others including but notlimited to outside agencies and county departments.•Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the Lead Crisis Worker, Deputy Director or the Director.

Qualifications :
Knowledge, Ability and Skills: *Knowledge of the principles/theories of social work practice, family systems, humanbehavior, health care conditions, rehabilitation, elder abuse and the laws related todisabilities, aging and families is required. *The ability to manage time, communicate orally and in writing, use good judgment and workboth independently and as a team member are required as well. Computer skills arenecessary for written communication, time recording, billing and case maintenance. *Skills are necessary in working with confused, resistive and possibly aggressive people. It isimportant to be able to adhere to schedules, time lines and established priorities.
