Creative Services Director, Admissions & Aid – Admissions Office

Essential Functions

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Creative Services Director directs the creative services for all marketing, advertising, and communications in admissions and aid unit including social media, web, presentations, digital collateral, and printed materials. In addition to overseeing design efforts, the Creative Services Director manages the team that writes, edits, and generates all communications to support the efforts of the unit.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in the development of marketing strategy and directs the creative development of print and digital marketing, advertising, and other communications that support undergraduate admissions and aid, and manages creative services to implementation.
    • Actively participates in the development and execution of strategy and tactics for new initiatives
    • Oversees and assists with the development of messaging and content
    • Establishes and maintains brand standards across departments while advancing the university’s visual identity
    • Oversees the design of admission & aid publications
    • Leads design operations print production, proofing, and press checks
    • Oversees the coordination of photography and video shoots
    • Oversees the selection of vendors, bidding, and negotiating contracts
    • Oversees the creative process in admission & aid marketing
    • Works with the Visit experience team to design collateral and digital presence
    • Conducts review meetings, builds relationships, establishes master schedules, develops and maintains budgets, and resolves conflicts
  • Leads creative support for the unit’s websites and digital signage to ensure integration with our overall marketing and visit experience strategies
  • Supervises the department’s editorial coordinator, content editor, communication specialist, and communication coordinator, student designers, freelance designers, and photographers
  • Assists the Director of Marketing with management responsibilities as needed and making decisions on behalf of the Director when necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, print production, marketing, or related area
    • Five years of experience in graphic design – print and digital — and creative services management with proven experience with InDesign or other Adobe Creative Suite software and with execution of digital and print projects.
    • A design portfolio
    • Experience in/with:
      • Managing people and budgets
      • HTML/sharepoint/wordpress or other web software
      • Advertising
      • International marketing communications
      • Web-based project management software and tools
      • Customer Relationship Management Software (CRM)
      • Systems/process improvement
    • Print and digital marketing principles and web technology
    • Strong time-management and organizational skills; ability to multitask and meet production schedules
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, self-starter environment
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
    • Ability to analyze problems, recommend solutions, and enhance communications within and outside the department

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree
    • More than five years of experience in graphic design – print and digital — and creative services management with proven experience with InDesign or other Adobe Creative Suite software and with execution of digital and print projects

    Salary Range

    The hiring range for this position is $58,441 – $76,011 annually.
