Role:

We are seeking an expert Creative Lead to join our Brand and Creative team. Can you inspire, mentor and motivate talent to deliver the best possible execution? Can you thread the creative needle so it weaves its way through all visual delivery? Can you deliver high impact assets that tell amazing stories while inspiring consideration? The Creative Lead will help guide the creative strategy for the in-house Splunk agency. You will have experience with creating branding systems and guidelines, illustration, digital design and production, event themes and event visual design, advertising campaign concepts and advertising art direction, social media concepts and content design, video concepts, storytelling and production, motion graphic and animation design, and supervising photo and video shoots. You are an expert collaborator and have a roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic and real passion for all aspects of design.

This role will be based in the San Francisco HQ location and will report into the Director, Brand and Creative.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ongoing design and execution through the collaboration across teams responsible for brand, video, web, event and advertising design.
  • Eloquently explain every aspect of a creative solution and how it solves the challenge to team members, broader marketing teams and executive staff.
  • Ensure that the project scope is clear and agreed upon and drive scope discussions if necessary. Partner with subject matter experts in Marketing to understand project requirements, audience needs and timelines.
  • Think creatively, conceptually, and critically as a brand champion and steward. Research, review and recommend suitable illustration, photography and sound.
  • Partner closely with copywriters to concept creative solutions while ensuring all delivery meets style and voice standards.
  • Collaborate with designers to help guide and inspire while reviewing work of junior designers and contract designers to ensure consistency.
  • Create space for team development that promotes creativity and innovation. Question limitations and demonstrate industry knowledge and creative chops to push past the safe option into compelling, uncharted territories.
  • Support the Director of Brand and Creative in defining group processes and identify process improvements. Reinforce change that makes the group more efficient and effective. Help set the foundation for departmental scale.


Requirements:

  • 15+ years of advancing responsibility and design experience in a fast-moving environments. Experience with technology industry is required.
  • You are inspired and driven. You not only know the trends and innovations in visual design, you will set the stage for the next wave.
  • You possess a can-do, get it done attitude to push execution forward while appropriately navigating any roadblocks.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with applying design standard methodologies and production techniques.
  • Shown experience originating new concepts or innovative approaches which have significant impact on marketing efforts.
  • Ability to mediate and cope with rapid change and comfortable with problem solving and multi-tasking while maintaining calm under pressure.
  • You are an excellent communicator across different mediums and have experience working across multi-functional, international, internal and external teams.
  • Establish and regularly report on metrics to measure success and act on results to continuously improve execution.
  • You have management and supervisory skillset along with a sense of humor.
  • Design and creative agency experience a plus. Solid background in both print and digital delivery.
  • Stong portfolio of experience that spans across print and digital assets.
  • Proficient in MSOffice suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Proficient in G Suite: Docs, Sheets, Slides.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop and Illustrator required.
  • Knowledge of visual programming languages (Sketch, InVision) and familiarity with HTML5, CSS, Java, or other programming languages.


Education:

  • BA or MA in Graphic Design, Communication Design, or other Visual Design field.
