Continuous Improvement Specialist (Lean Manufacturing)

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Researches, plans, trains, executes, and facilitates operational improvement programs to create a culture of continuous improvement using Lean manufacturing methods that lead to employee empowerment, elimination of waste, and key result area improvement such as safety, quality, service, and cost.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED

1. Lead change management processes at various facilities, as directed.

2. Lead continuous improvement projects through cross-functional team facilitation and project management.

3. Manage and coordinate implementation of TWI (Training Within Industry) training program.

4. Use Lean manufacturing tools (e.g., TWI, value stream mapping, Kaizen, 5S, Gemba walks, root cause problem solving) to identify and develop solutions that drive operational improvement.

5. Provide leadership by mentoring associates in the use of Lean tools, ensuring transfer of knowledge and creating a culture of continuous improvement.

6. Collect and analyze data on manufacturing processes, procedures, and performance using evaluation tools and make recommendations on improvements to operational leaders.

7. Facilitate the development of A3 project plans so all aspects of the project scope are properly managed.

8. Track, monitor, and report regularly on project status; monitor product and process improvement milestones to ensure on-time completion and sustainability.

9. Analyze, develop, ratify, implement, and standardize manufacturing best practices across the network.

10. Contribute to plant success by establishing collaborative relationships with various management groups.

11. Performs other related tasks, as needed.

SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

? Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field and five years of manufacturing leadership related experience.

? Strong leadership skills with ability to facilitate teams and influence direction.

? Ability to lead and manage TWI training program at a facility level with a primary focus on manufacturing and operations.

? Able to learn and apply Lean concepts and tools (5S, value stream mapping, visual workplace, flow and pull manufacturing, etc.)

? Self-motivated, self-directing, strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.

? Team player and strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well — verbally and in writing — with others.

? Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

? Able to lead/facilitate kaizen events.

? Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other

applicable software programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

? Lean Six Sigma certified.
