Consumer Loan Servicing Specialist I (N3)

Under general supervision, support and perform the core loan servicing functions in a timely and accurate manner, including new loan bookings and disbursements, set up and updating the core loan operation system for all forms of monetary and non-monetary loan maintenance across the mortgage and consumer portfolio. Process loan payments, payoffs and advances. Perform various tasks as assigned in order to service internal and external customers.

Enter, verify and maintain data for new loan bookings and loan disbursements on the mortgage and consumer loan operation system. Processes general ledger transactions, wire transfers and cashier’s checks.

Set up and update all forms of monetary and non-monetary mortgage and consumer loan maintenance within established guidelines, policies and procedures. Responsible for daily verification of all maintenance work performed. Includes loan extensions and modifications.

Calculate and process monetary mortgage and consumer loan payoffs, payments, advances and corrections. Research and resolve customer inquiries regarding general and specific account information.

Perform weekly night duties which include balancing the payoff general ledger, verifying customer information has been securely put away in the department, daily balancing of cashier checks issued by the department and transfer management/lockbox rejects.

Provide outstanding customer service and support to internal and external customers in a courteous and professional manner by telephone, e-mail, fax or mail. Participate in the cross-selling of First Federal products and services.

Ensure general compliance including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) regulations and other federal and state regulations pertinent to this position. Complete annual BSA training in a timely manner in accordance with BSA regulations and internal policies and procedures.

Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED

Experience:

  • Typically requires 1 year loan servicing experience or 2 years of banking experience
  • Loan servicing and documentation knowledge preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of First Federal policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Good understanding of consumer lending activities including products and services
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment while providing a high level of customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of office equipment including personal computers and associated software programs such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • A valid Washington State drivers license is required.

Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of this position require the ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Boxes and supplies may be lifted on and off counters, tables, desks, and shelves up to a height of 6 feet. The work requires the ability to operate office machines and equipment, such as personal computers, printers, copying machines, fax machines, calculators, and telephones. The work requires the ability to communicate clearly with customers, coworkers, and others in person and on telephones. Work activities involve combinations of sitting/standing for extended periods, lifting, and carrying.

The emphasis on the communication process, computer skills, and potential need for travel to other facilities throughout the Association’s service area indicate that the responsibilities could not be performed by people with severe restrictions in sight, hearing, speech or physical mobility.
