Construction Materials Testing Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for a responsible construction materials testing (CMT) assistant to carry out various tasks to help facilitate and support the day to day operations of the soil and materials testing lab at SKG Engineering. This position can be either full or part time.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

• Perform job duties in a safe and efficient manner
• Set up, clean and store laboratory equipment
• Under supervision, calibrates meters and lab equipment
• Performs data entry for analytical reports
• Receives and labels lab samples
• Prepares lab samples/cooler for shipment for outsource lab analysis
• Provide assistance to lab manager and technicians
• Perform clerical tasks as needed
• Perform other related duties in support of lab operations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Some basic familiarity of lab hazards and safety precautions around chemicals
• Capable of operating basic computer programs (Excel, MS Word)
• Follow directions and keep records of analytical results
• Ability to perform math calculations and troubleshoot when needed.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
