Overall summary:

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Communications Specialist to manage all external Company Communications for News America Marketing and the Smart Source brand. This role will be accountable to promote a positive public image and control the external dissemination of information on our company’s behalf, including all industry, client and consumer-facing PR media efforts (earned and paid), external and client-facing events, as well as internal touchpoints that reinforce a consistent image and message for News America. They will direct our Communications/PR Agency, and collaborate with any News Corp or sister division efforts regarding press and public image.

Phenomenal communication and copywriting skills make a strong communications specialist. Enthusiasm and positive attitude will help gain the trust of colleagues and external parties alike.

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop effective corporate Communications strategies working with the VP Communications/CMO and Marketing team, to advance News America’s new positioning in the industry.
  • Direct the Communications agency and any other resources needed to execute on the earned and paid PR initiatives.
  • Collaborate with NAM HR (including training/development team) and News Corp partners to reinforce News America positioning throughout all relevant touchpoints.
  • Lead strategy for any crisis management communications needs, in collaboration with Communications agency and News Corp.
  • Design consumer-facing communications strategy for Smart Source brand and related products and partnerships.
  • Create and implement a relevant social media/advocacy strategy for News America and Smart Source brand.
  • Support the branding of the organization by researching appropriate industry events and advising on the appropriate presence at each
  • Design and lead execution of industry and client facing events (with support team)
  • Qualifications:

    · College Degree; communications major a plus

    · 5+ years of experience in public relations, communications, or related field.

    · Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills

    · Experience in copywriting and editing

    · Experience in all forms of earned and paid media, with particular knowledge of social and digital platforms.

    · Willing to travel on occasion to NAM’s other offices or for relevant events.
