Cloud Database Engineer

What you’ll be doing…

As a member of the IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) team, your primary task will be to perform the installation, configuration, and day-to-day tasks associated with ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of multiple flavors of databases like Oracle, Mysql, SQL Server, Hadoop, Directory server, replication tools like Shareplex, Golden gate and ETL tools like Informatica. This includes the design and implementation of infrastructure from analysis, build, specification, configuration and deployment of applications, connecting to back-end and middle tier resources, and advanced troubleshooting of complex enterprise applications.   • This role requires the candidate to be highly flexible in hours of work because of its customer-facing, highly available infrastructure necessity.
  • Performs on-call support activities as needed, 24 x 7.
  • Installation, deployment, administration, tuning and operational support of (production, staging, test and development) environments for multiple projects using Oracle database server version 11g/12c RAC/ASM/ACFS, Directory server, Hadoop, Shareplex and WebSphere/Weblogic Application Server.
  • Works independently for simple task and requires guidance and supervision on complex tasks.
  • Works as a team member in intermediate or large projects by providing solution to high complex problems and under the direction and supervision of senior applications staff and management.
  • Periodically leads other applications team members in selected project activities.
  • Collects client requirements, performs analysis, writes program specifications and develops designs for medium size projects.
  • Performs technical evaluation of products and provide feedback. Always provides high quality deliverables in a timely fashion.
  • Performs project management activities such as planning, sizing, and scheduling activities. Responsible for analyzing problems, developing solutions and making decisions that impact projects.
  • Ensures systems implementations occur in accordance with established Change Control procedures.
  • Proactively communicates status reports and issues to manager.
  • Successfully completes all relevant technical and professional training programs in accordance with Performance Agreement goals and objectives.
  • Works on multiple projects in agile environment.


What we’re looking for…

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience. Ideally, your Master’s degree.
  • Expertise in administration and configuration of Oracle database 11g (11.2.0.3,11.2.0.4),12c, RAC, Data guard, ASM and ACFS.
  • 4+ year of experience in installation, configuration, tuning, troubleshooting, and administration of Oracle database 11g (11.2.0.3,11.2.0.4), 12c.
  • 3+ year of experience in installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and administration of Dell Shareplex (7.6x, 8.x) and oracle Goldengate.
  • 4+ years of experience in supporting Java and J2EE mission critical 24 * 7 applications deployed in multi-platform environment.
  • 2+ years of experience in Java Directory Server, Unboundid v3.6 and multi-master replication.
  • 4+ years of experience with Solaris/AIX/RHEL Operating Systems.
  • 1+ years of experience in Managing Oracle databases in Cloud environments.
  • 1+ years of experience with Open source databases like Postgres, Mysql or Cassandra.
  • 1+ years of experience with Hadoop (1.3.2, 2.0), Hbase (.94.x/.96.x), Mongodb (2.4.8) and tools like Ambari, Nagios, Scoop, Flume and Terrasort.
  • Experience with working on UNIX platforms and good UNIX scripting skills.
  • Good knowledge of some scripting language (Perl, php, Python).
  • Good understanding of database and application load balancing concepts and experience with highly available distributed environments.
  • Good time management, documentation and communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm and eagerness to learn and embrace new technologies.
