Career Connections Coordinator

needed to impact change in college and career readiness at Department of Education. Serve on a team that supports educators with preparing students for high school and beyond.

Major Responsibilities & Duties:
On behalf of the Center for Student Support and Education Options in coordination and as a subject matter expert for the career connections program:

Develops and deploys tools and resources for key stakeholders aligned with identified priorities:

Oversees implementation, maintains necessary updates and makes policy recommendations regarding Student Success and Career Advising;

Assists with l development and deployment of a comprehensive career connections framework, aligned with comprehensive school counseling for grades K-12;

Assists with ensuring alignment of career advising materials with in-demand occupations;

Assists with identifying and promotes career counseling models for scaling and replicating statewide. Develops and facilitates professional learning experiences for key stakeholders:

Advises external stakeholders of state-level frameworks, models, and initiatives;

Supports the implementation and use of career connection learning strategies in classrooms;

Develops and maintains model implementation resources for local adaptation and implementation;

Provides professional development and technical assistance to districts and educators; plans and directs workshops, seminars and institutes;

Provides recommendations for professional development for practitioners and pre-service programs. Develops and sustains partnerships among key stakeholders:

Coordinates with workforce partners to cultivate relationships between education and business (e.g., Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation);

Collaborates with stakeholders across secondary and post-secondary

Provides leadership and advisement to state-level organizations (e.g., Ohio School Counselor Association, Ohio Association for Career Technical Education);

Partners with professional associations and education agencies: promotes career connections program through public awareness activities;

Communicates with constituents regarding educational issues.

Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of a graduate core program in a specific or related content area, educational program, or service (e.g., social sciences, business administration, public administration, psychology); and 3 years of experience in any combination of the following:

Experience in a K-12 education or workforce development setting working in one of the following capacities (e.g., school counseling, career development, academic/career advising, career services, college enrollment, human resources);

Experience with youth focused programs and initiatives that promote career readiness in a school or community setting. Or completion of an undergraduate core program in a specific or related content area, educational program, or service (e.g., social sciences, business administration, public administration, psychology); and 4 years of experience in any combination of the following:

Experience in a K-12 education or workforce development setting working in one of the following capacities (e.g., school counseling, career development, academic/career advising, career services, college enrollment, human resources);

Experience with youth focused programs and initiatives that promote career readiness in a school or community setting. Or 6 years of experience in any combination of the following:

Experience in a K-12 education or workforce development setting working in one of the following capacities (e.g., school counseling, career development, academic/career advising, career services, college enrollment, human resources);

Experience with youth focused programs and initiatives that promote career readiness in a school or community setting.

Supplemental Information:
Requires travel throughout State of Ohio & may require overnight stay.(Must be willing & able to secure a valid driver’s license OR supply your own transportation).

Compensation for this position is $25.66 hourly/$53,373 annually and is non-negotiable.

The final applicant for this position will be required to submit urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to an appointment. The State will decline to extend a final offer of employment to any applicant with a verified positive test result. Also, an applicant with a positive test result will not be considered for any position with the State of Ohio for a period of one year.

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check as well as other investigative reviews. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position, unless restricted under state or federal law or federal restrictions. An individual assessment of an applicant’s prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
