CAD Drafter/Designer

We are looking for an Architectural CAD Drafter/Designer with SolidWorks experience. This individual will obtain and organize information to generate detailed drawings ranging from explanatory 2D renderings to job submittals, shop drawings, and 3D modeling using SolidWorks. This is a full-time, salaried position. Compensation DOE.

Required Duties and Responsibilities

Design

• Create and revise production drawings using SolidWorks.
• Analyze space and site requirements.
• Make final detailed sketches of proposed drawings while regarding materials to be used, checking dimension of parts, relation of one part to another, and relation of parts to whole structure or project.
• Draft detailed multi-view drawings of products using SolidWorks.
• Use SolidWorks to create models and production files for clients and fabricators.
• Draw finished designs and sketches using SolidWorks.
• Evaluate feasibility of design ideas based on factors such as appearance, safety, functionality, sustainability, budget, manufacturing limitations, production resources, costs, methods, and market characteristics.

Technical and Computer

• Accurately compute angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, and leverages.
• Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, and building materials to complete drawings.
• Generate detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
• Gather information to initiate and complete designs in SolidWorks.
• Use relevant information and judgement to determine whether designs and processes comply with laws, regulations, and/or standards.
• Communicate with estimating and operations to establish and evaluate design concepts for standard and custom manufactured products.
• Enter, record, store, and maintain information in written and/or electronic form.
• Review and critique the work of team members, verifying accuracy and offering feedback.

Education/Experience Requirements

• 2+ years’ experience drafting experience using SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM, preferably in a manufacturing environment; 1 year minimum using SolidWorks.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor’s or Associates degree in drafting, architecture, mechanical engineering or related field preferred

• Solid proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
• Understanding of ERP system, NetSuite experience a plus
• Complete understanding of standard manufacturing techniques
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
• Possess strong analytical and complex problem solving skills
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to be exact and accurate
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to confidently work with support personnel, management, and high-end clientele in the landscape architectural industry
