CAD Designer

The CAD Designer will create complete design drawing packages under the direction of a Senior Designer. The designer is expected to work within the design criteria established by the integration team, but will be required to be creative and resourceful to document detailed design information.

Engineering documents supplied to the designer include detailed bills of material, typical circuit diagrams accompanied by spreadsheets detailing instances, I/O lists, motor manifests and any number of other documents required to provide the necessary design information.

RESPONSABILITIES:
Once trained a CAD designer will be able to:
Create detailed industrial control panel drawings including:
480VAC power distribution

120VAC power distribution

24VDC power distribution

120V AC & 24V AC/DC Control Circuits

Network one-lines and detail drawings

PLC rack layout drawings

Discrete PLC input and output drawings / Analog PLC input and output drawings

Physical interior and exterior panel layout drawings

Field interconnect drawings such as loop drawings or point-to-point connection diagrams

Field device location drawings

Conduit one-lines

Other drawings as necessary to provide a complete design package.

Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to frequent project changes.

Ability to follow complex instructions and diagrams to create or modify drawings using company drafting standards.

Perform drawing and technology research.

Check tolerances, dimensions, and fabrication feasibility of designs and work with controls engineers to resolve problems.

Document designs and provide associated drawings that meet project specifications.

Adjust current drawings and recommend changes based on their understanding and knowledge of the project.

Design and draft CAD (computer-aided design) drawings.

Follow project schedules.

Meet project due dates.

Meet all project specifications and formatting within company principles.

Work closely with the AutoCAD senior designer, project managers, and project control engineers to make sure that the design is precise. Also to ensure and that contract responsibilities are met.

Coordinate with designers, technicians and other personnel to incorporate concepts and information into drawing packages.

Aid in increasing and maintaining quality assurance processes.

Prepare presentation materials using AutoCAD graphic software.

Review and interpret client specifications.

Learn AutoCAD Electrical to the full extent of its capabilities.

Follow and use drawing standards.

Occasional travel may be required for this position. (Less than 20%)

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma

Associates Degree in CAD, electronics, or electrical engineering or equivalent experience

1 to 2 years of AutoCAD experience

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD. Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical 2010-2016 is a plus

Proficient in creating LISP routines

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including but not limited to: Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint

Proficient in Adobe Acrobat Pro

Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings

Ability to create graphical representations of electrical components

High degree of focus and attention to detail

Good verbal and written communication skills

Fluent in written and spoken English
