We are hiring a Business Technology Analyst to join our team and work alongside other team members to provide technology related services to stakeholders that cross all Securian Corporate Functions. This wide variety of stakeholder groups coupled with a wide range of technology solutions creates an environment that is complex and exciting. In this critical role you will be a key interface to all stakeholders and essential to ensuring an exceptional customer experience is provided.

What you would do in this job:

  • Manage and perform business requirements elicitation on complex assignments. Apply the appropriate requirements elicitation techniques, tools and templates based on project complexity, size, risk, business impact and solution delivery approach (Agile or traditional).
  • Develop and communicate the requirements plan.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand, evaluate and document their business processes, needs and requirements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and application support for assigned applications and/or Corporate functional areas including related business and technical processes. Establish and maintain key relationships with application vendors, Corporate Systems partners and end users.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of assigned applications including security design, configuration and set up, application features and functions and how they are deployed at Securian to support critical business function.
  • Analyze all technology changes (hardware, operating system, software releases, etc.) and their impacts to ensure appropriate actions are taken. Collaborate with application developers and business stakeholders to ensure appropriate actions are taken (testing, upgrades, process change, training, etc.).
  • Perform system administration function which may include running/canceling production jobs; changing user defined tables; establishing and maintaining system settings, etc.
  • Determine the range and depth of testing activities required for the type of project assignment considering complexity, size, risk, and business impact.
  • Develop a testing approach and strategy.
  • Drive testing effort to completion, ensuring established standards of quality, including reliability, usability and performance are met.
  • Manage small to medium sized projects. Drives decisions related to project planning, execution and closure.
  • Develop and maintain the project plan. Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks. Balance considerations of scope, quality, time, and cost.
  • Build strong relationships with project participants to help navigate through problems, decisions and related implications.
  • Manage/execute the project according to the project plan; accountable for completion of the project – on time, within scope and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with team members, business users, application development, corporate partners and other internal and external stakeholders including vendors.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop knowledge of product, plan and business processes, testing tools and system applications.

  • Knowledge of project management, business analysis and software testing techniques and associated tools.
  • Ability to blend creative, problem-solving and technical skills to solve dynamic problems.
  • Proven ability to independently organize and prioritize multiple projects and/or related activities so that you are able to adapt to conflicting work demands and evolving business needs.

Preferred skills for this job:

  • Proven Project Management skills including the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and priorities while maintaining a company-wide focus.
  • Understanding of Securian technical infrastructure.

Physical job requirements:

  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to utilize telephone for approximately 1-4 hours per day.
  • Ability to perform simple grasping including handwriting, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, etc. periodically throughout entire workday.
