Business Intelligence Analyst

This position is responsible for ensuring Bain’s reporting and business intelligence environment meets the reporting and analytics needs of business units across the company. In this role, the BI analyst will work closely with customers, Project Managers, Database Administrators, and other Software team members. This position will create and maintain reports using IBM Cognos, work independently with customers and Project Managers to design and develop complex reports, and support report writers in functional areas with training and assistance in developing complex reports.

Responsibilities:

• Work with Project Managers and customers to determine reporting requirements and develop report specifications
• Update data models, build required database objects, and create reports based on report specifications
• Coordinate with customers and the Quality Assurance team to ensure new or updated reports meet report specifications
• Work independently with customers and Project Managers to resolve issues and enhance reports as required
• Build complex reports for customers. In some cases, this will require working with Software Engineers familiar with the underlying applications to determine the best approach
• Develop knowledge of IBM Cognos server software and services and operations to maintain high availability of the IBM Cognos environment, including performing server maintenance
• Train and support qualified customers on IBM Cognos tools
• Research and assess customer facing and internal analytics solutions using server-based report generation software, dashboards, and data visualization tools
• Other tasks as required

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science or Business or related experience
• 1 to 3 years experience developing reporting for financial and administrative software applications
• Attention to detail
• Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server including an introduction to views and stored procedures preferred
• Ability to work independently and with teams on complex problems
• Strong oral communications skills
• Aptitude for analytical problem resolution
• High performance and standards as demonstrated by academic or previous job experience
