Business Analyst

As Business Analyst you will gather, analyze, and present meaningful data that is germane and contributes to the success of the operations. The data must be detailed, well-thought-out, comprehensive, and professionally presented. You must be able to recognize any subtle nuances in data being presented and discuss those findings in depth. As a staff member of the Finance team, the Business Analyst must be able to present financial information in a manner that is understandable to all levels of management, including stakeholders.


Essential Duties

  • Analyze and evaluate business processes, determine areas of improvement, develop and implement solutions.
  • Lead ongoing review of business processes.
  • Perform all required analysis.
  • Documenting and communicating results of analysis.
  • Work closely with managerial staff while providing leadership, training and guidance to staff members
  • Ensuring that solutions meet business and/or company objectives.
  • Knowledgeable in Job costing
  • Provide Project cost analysis ahead of start of project
  • Analyze and manage project costs.
  • Work closely with IT on implementation of projects including new software
  • Must have natural analytical skill
  • Possess strong working knowledge of accounts payable
  • Be able to effectively manage the General Ledger
  • Must possess very good to excellent writing skills
  • Must be able to present data in a professional manner
  • Be able to explain and articulate trends (as indicated in data)
  • Must be familiar with and have working knowledge of cash and accrual forms of accounting.
  • Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective working relations with fellow employees.
  • Constantly exhibit a guest service attitude, a smile, and an obvious interest in guest comfort and service.
  • Communicate with the public in a courteous and tactful manner and assist guests with questions and directions to various areas of the Zoo. Address the guest – do not wait to be asked.
  • Remove trash and debris from public areas; i.e. pick up litter whenever you see it.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

  • Review general ledger accounts and reconcile as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual Zoo audit.
  • Provide accounting information to Zoo leadership as needed.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of (4) years in Accounting or other professional finance related position.
  • Ability to work weekends as needed, holidays and occasional after-hour assignments.
  • Knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable environment
  • Extensive General Ledger knowledge
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Computer proficiency with financial software. Knowledge of MAS 90 (Sage 100) a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Three years’ experience in statistical or analytical accounting work
  • Ten key by touch.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum direction; with great attention to detail.
