The Budget analyst is responsible for requisitioning and reconciling the Neuromuscular section Accounts. This position is responsible for the compilation of financial data as necessary to manage accounts, perform variance analysis, produce timely reports, and project financial sufficiency. The Budget analyst, under general direction, is responsible for providing the most efficient, accurate and secures methods for financial transactions. This position reports to the Section Chief and is an integral member of the Neuromuscular section in the department of Neurology.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Business or related field. Relevant work experience can be substituted on a year for year basis. Minimum of three years of experience in relevant ( GAAP ) accounting methods, mathematical skills, problem solving skills, and proven track record of thoroughness and attention to detail. Proficient in use of PeopleSoft, Market center, KU endowment accounting program to reconcile various accounts and advanced skills in MS Excel spreadsheet development.

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of college level coursework in accounting. Accounting and/or finance experience in a higher education setting. Experience with PeopleSoft financials, HR, and payroll systems.

The Budget Analyst preforms variance analysis, reconciles accounts, and projects year-end financial sufficiency. The budget analyst works directly with vendors to correct variances in charges to ensure integrity of payments. The budget analyst also works directly with internal as well as external customers to ensure timely payments for services provided by Neuromuscular program. The budget analyst provides monthly standard management reports and ad-hoc reports to the section chief and also the senior administrator of the department. The budget analyst provides unique management reports for each job on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly base.
