Billing Technician

Under the general direction of the Project Accountant Manager, and working in cooperation with the respective Project Accountant(s), the Billing Technician is responsible for the preparation and processing of billing and accounts receivable functions in a timely and accurate manner.

    • Responsibilities:

      • Prepare accurate and timely invoices in accordance with contract terms and conditions
      • Read and become familiar with each contract’s billing requirements
      • Maintain complete and accurate billing files
      • Prepare worksheets to track billing items such as funding, modifications, etc.
      • Research billing matters, and initiate corrections as necessary and communicate results
      • Monitor customer payments and Accounts receivable aging amounts
      • Research and solve payment discrepancies
      • Process credit card payments and credits
      • Set up new delivery orders and project levels in Costpoint Accounting
      • Make adjustments to accounts as needed
      • Other duties as assigned by Project Accountant Manager

      Qualifications:

      • 9 mo-1yr billing experience or relevant accounting experience
      • 9 mo-1yr CostPoint experience using the Accounting Module
      • 9 mo-1yr experience with government contracts
      • Basic experience with and understanding of WAWF and GSA government invoicing websites
      • Basic understanding of using Intercompany processes
      • Ability to produce work that is accurate, complete and on time
      • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word
      • Intermediate skills in the use of Microsoft Excel
      • High school diploma or GED equivalent
      • Excellent attention to detail
      • Strong verbal, written and data entry skills are required
      • Must be dependable, detail oriented, multi-tasked and be able to meet fast paced deadlines
      • Ability to follow and understand complex directions
      • Operate 10 key by touch
      • Independent worker with proven problem solving skills, with ability to work in a team environment
      • Able to effectively handle potentially stressful situations in a calm and professional manner
      • All decisions must be made in a professional manner based on the facts of the individual case

      Supervisory:
      None

      Physical Demands:
      Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 4 hours; occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.

      Work Environment:
      Work performed in a professional office setting utilizing telephone, computer and other office equipment. Moderate travel required to shareholder communities, subsidiary offices and other locations as needed.

      Work Schedule:
      40 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
