Position Overview

We are looking for a world-class software engineer to join our back-end team. Our mission is to maintain the stability of the Houzz site for our growing number of users. Our team is working on building systems that will scale with the millions of homeowners, professionals, photos, and products on Houzz. Critical projects will focus on the ongoing development of Houzz.com’s website functionality and platform, developing breakthrough functionality for Houzz’s award-winning mobile apps, and assisting in setting platform infrastructure technical directions.

Contributions

Building infrastructures to support the needs of other functional teams
Scaling infrastructures and platforms to handle ever-growing traffic and feature sets
Measuring and optimizing performance of production systems

Required Skills and Experience

Proficiency in web application programming (OOP, Java/C++, LAMP)
Good understanding of Linux, algorithms, network protocols and web services
B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent

Desired Skills and Experience

Extensive knowledge and experience with large-scale, multi-threaded distributed backend system
Experience with Python and Go
5+ years experience
