Responsibilities

Universal Studios Hollywood’s Consumer Insights is a fully integrated, in-house research team responsible for providing actionable insights to influence decision-making across all functions and lines of businesses within the Parks and Resorts organization. Its robust set of capabilities includes design and execution of primary quantitative and qualitative research, from questionnaire development, field work, data processing and compilation to final analysis and reporting. It leverages a large variety of secondary research sources and partners with outside agencies and subject matter experts to understand market trends.

The Associate Manager, Research Systems & Reporting will be responsible for managing Consumer Insights’ new technology infrastructure for survey development, data collection, data tabulation and reporting. This newly created position will provide day-to-day functional support of the system and will be responsible for monitoring surveys in data collection, data collected / stored and databases developed. In addition, this position will maintain existing suite of hardware and software within the Consumer Insight’s technology infrastructure and will lead the evaluation and procurement of any additional needs. As such, it requires expertise to quickly solve complex problems related to survey implementation, data processing and reporting.

•Provide maintenance of all system processes in both application and hardware environments, such as rolling out updates, tracking equipment inventory, standardizing operating procedures, and any other processes that would preserve the integrity of the team’s technology infrastructure.

•Manage administration of all system processes in both application and hardware environments including survey activation and user-credential upkeep to ensure research protocols are followed

•Optimize and manage existing guest research databases and other data sources including data querying, data manipulation and report automation to respond to ad hoc request for survey data

•Interface with IT team on data validation, data integrity checks, troubleshooting and ongoing enhancement of guest research databases to ensure high quality and timely data

•Coordinate with the NBCU/USH IT team to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot system issues

•Collaborate with other research team members in deployment of finalize questionnaire into production, including quality assurance testing to ensure error-free data collection instrument

•Develop and automate various guest research reports via IBM Reporter, WinCross or Tableau

•Maintain accurate inventory for all changes in software and hardware

•Other responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and improving standard operating procedures

•Train research team, including a sizeable front of house group, as needed

Qualifications/Requirements

•Minimum 2 years of experience working with relational databases including database structure, running data queries, and formulating custom reports

•Minimum 2 years of experience with Market Research and Business Intelligence tools such as IBM SPSS, Data Collection, Tableau and Microsoft SQL

•Strong acumen for developing standard and customized management reports using vendor provided tools, customized reporting tools and SQL

•Expertise using MS Office applications such as Excel, including macros, Access and Visual Basic programming

•Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is required; majors in Information Systems/ Market Research or other related field preferred

•Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills to interface with internal customers and all levels of leadership

•Ability to work during non-business hours as needed

•Strong critical thinking, problem solving skills and ability to work through complex problems.

Desired Characteristics

•Minimum 2 years of experience in consumer-focused market research systems

•Experience with IBM SPSS Data Collection/Unicom Intelligence research tool strongly desired

•Knowledge of IBM research tools a plus (e.g., SPSS, Survey Reporter, Professional, Modeler, Silverpop, Data Collection, etc.)

•Working knowledge of research/analytical software tools (SAS, Tableau, SQL, Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, etc.) and programming tools (Visual Basic, R, etc.)

•Strong multitasking capabilities, project management skills and the ability to work effectively in an environment of tight deadlines and constant change

•Self-directed and able to work independently but also able to work collaboratively in a team-oriented department
