Associate Director, Supply Chain Operations and Channel Intelligence

The primary objectives of the Associate Director Supply Chain Operations and Channel Intelligence role are:

• To be the primary liaison with Global Supply Chain and have functional responsibility for management of the company’s domestic and global commercial and clinical inventory management, clinical trial materials, and commercial supply production planning for manufacturing at the affiliate sites in the United States and Canada.

• Responsible for supporting business decisions alongside the Sr. Director, Trade with the use of available channel data by developing, maintaining, and using systems to generate actionable information. Supply Chain Operations and Channel Intelligence will help guide the Channel team, Supply Chain decision, and ensure Ipsen’s products are adequately supported by contracted partners and to identify trends in the marketplace to guide the appropriate Ipsen resources using the derived information in support of furthering Ipsen goals;

The Associate Director Supply Chain Operations and Channel Intelligence will be responsible for supporting the development of the North America market supply chain solution to ensure adequate inventory is available and supplied for patient use, using data to synthesize information in support of Trade partner activity, and being primarily responsible for developing and implementing, and executing analytical functions related to Trade needs in support of the US Value and Access functions.

Critical to the successful execution of this role and the business relationship management is the ongoing collaboration and involvement of other key stakeholders in the Commercial sphere – namely Reimbursement Hub, Value and Access, Marketing Franchises including the sales leadership, Legal, Compliance, Business Analytics – and other key Ipsen functional areas such as Global Supply Chain.

Essential Functions

• Function: Channel Intelligence

o Utilizing available data sources, derives trends and business intelligence to support Specialty Pharmacy Providers, Institutional Specialty Pharmacy, and Distributor product movement and contracts

o Interfaces with appropriate departments (Analytics, external vendors, Finance) to address inconsistencies or share actionable information as necessary.

o Supports Strategic Pricing and Contracting with Gross-to-Net calculations.

o Responsible for working with Data Aggregator and Data Interpreter companies to manage Trade-specific data deliverables.

o Builds and presents customer scorecards measuring performance against contract.

o Supports Account Director in analysis and interpretation of performance against requirements, and where requested presents scorecard to customer alongside Account Director during Quarterly Business Reviews.

o Supports Trade Account Directors through business analysis in ensuring product distribution and product dispensing is optimal.

o Monitors and reports on the inventory status of Ipsen products in customer warehouses and works with Account Directors to maintain adequate inventory levels to meet demand.

o Supports Sr. Director, Trade in managing requests from Finance relative to product purchasing trends

o Examines field intelligence data and internally discusses appropriate account strategies.

• Function: Supply Chain Operations

o Manage and implement solutions to meet all aspects of the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA

o Effectively review, communicate and submit for approval commercial product replenishment supply plans with Ipsen manufacturing partners as per SLA and contract agreements.

o Lead monthly S&OP discussions with appropriate decision makers (marketing, sales, finance), coordinating and managing the formal monthly US S&OP demand, supply and reconciliation process as per required time schedules for the affiliate products. Assure alignment between US S&OP practices and Global S&OP parameters / processes.

o Manage the monthly S&OP Demand Forecasts and inventory positions into the DP / DRP tool.

o Serve as the supply chain representative on the Commercial Launch, Clinical Operations, and other teams as assigned.

o Coordinate the planning demands at the Affiliate manufacturing locations via OMC. This responsibility includes establishment and maintenance of rolling forecasts for clinical and commercial products for the Affiliate sites, planning and oversight of clinical packaging and labeling operations for drug product, and coordination of clinical and commercial logistics for product supply.

o Decide and maintain product inventory balances, replenishment and safety stocks levels as per Global and Local Supply Chain parameters, contracts, trends, and policy, recommending adjustments as necessary to maintain appropriate stocking to meet demand and safety stock

o Manage and maintain approved freight carriers and brokers sufficient to assure robust transportation and physical handling of all products and materials with special attention on managing cold chain distribution capability and executing robust import / export processes.

o Develop, input, and review investigational new drug application technical sections of regulatory submissions as related specifically to supply chain packaging, labeling, shipping, and distribution of clinical supplies.

o Prepare, review and execute all relevant departmental SOP’s, business procedures, and work flow processes.

o Monitor and compare packaging component re-order quantities against supply plan to assure appropriate component inventory levels.

o Prepare monthly dashboards, KPIs and metrics sufficient to measure performance of warehouse operations, transportation processes, inventory levels, and forecast (demand and supply) accuracy. Execute actions to remediate issues and drive for continual process and performance improvements.

o Prepare annual Department Operating Budgets. Manage expenses at or below approved budget spending targets.

o Prepare and manage purchase orders and contracts required to initiate supply chain services and goods. Audit, validate and approve relevant supply chain vendor invoices for accuracy and timely submission for payment.

o Up to 30% travel

Scope Measures/Decision Making:

Management of Supply Chain functions to support $300MM organization

Management of $3MM Supply Chain budget

Management of complex and varied vendor and transportation systems to ensure full and timely support of $300MM organization

Creation and management of information and analysis systems to support and enhance operations led by five account directors in support of $300MM organization

Incumbent is responsible for managing a complex and varied matrix of vendors, internal and external resources, processes and limitations, acquiring data and synthesizing information to validate forecasts and challenge assumptions in support of a growing biopharmaceutical company’s supply chain needs in a timely fashion, in full, and at budget.

Incumbent will be responsible for supporting a Senior Director and 5 Account Director’s needs for actionable information. Incumbent will work with external vendors to generate scorecards, capture data, and will internally analyze data providing the supported individuals information and suggestions to enhance the Ipsen business. Incumbent will be responsible as well for helping each Account Director drive the end customer to better performance leading to patient care, where applicable, through the identification of trends, arresting negative trends and enhancing positive trends, through the uncovered reasons leading to these trends.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required

Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA a plus

• 10 years pharmaceutical / biotech industry experience

• 3-5 years specialty trade and/or channel operations experience and/or supply chain, including customer relations, contract negotiations, distribution channel policy development, customer service, 3PL management, production management, sales & operations planning

• Comprehensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical and biotech distribution channel operations, the role and services of each provider in the channel, and the regulatory requirements that pertain to these relationships

• Demonstrated ability to manage large data sets, work advanced spreadsheet functions, and collaborate with analytics vendors to deliver insightful and actionable information

• Proven understanding of a complex distribution and dispensing channel network

Essential Functions- Physical, Position Requirements: Machines and /or Equipment Used

• PC literacy required: MSOffice skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• PC literacy desired: relational databases, flat files, FTP literacy

• Experience with ERP / MRP systems, processes and tools.

• APICS Certification preferred.

• Experience in regulated manufacturing operations and processes for biologic products.

• Previous experience of working in a global business with matrix management.

• Regularly required to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopy machine, fax machine, etc.)

• Ability to work on a computer up to 7 hours a day.

• Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, and occasionally stand and walk.

• Regularly required to use hands to operate computer and other office equipment.

• Close vision required for computer usage.

• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 25 pounds.
