SALARY: $58,572.80- $80,412.80 / annually

Value of State-paid Health & Dental Insurance: $386.73 bi-weekly (90% State contribution) $365.97 bi-weekly (85% State contribution*)

Value of State’s share of employee’s retirement: 20.85% of pay * For salary $80,000/yr

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provides supportive, preventive, protective, public health and intervention services that safeguard the public health and assist our customers in meeting their needs.

The Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHS), is the single state administrative authority responsible for the planning, development, implementation, regulation, and evaluation of substance abuse and mental health services. This position is located in Augusta.

Job Description

As the Associate Director of Treatment and Recovery Services you will plan, coordinate, and direct statewide substance abuse and mental health treatment and recovery services of the Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHS). You will be responsible for program planning, policy development and implementation.

Typical Duties Include:

  • Overseeing the substance abuse workforce development plan, program evaluation and management
  • Providing supervision of the day-to-day operation of the mental health treatment and recovery services of SAMHS Office
  • Supervision of multiple program areas and staff
  • Developing, presenting, discussing, and interpreting agency policy, procedures,standards and expectations.
  • Reviewing , analyzing, and monitoring program data and related programmatic issues
  • Representing the Office at local, state, regional, and national meetings.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in the mental health, social sciences, behavioral health, health, education or related field and at least six (6) years of professional experience and responsibility in substance abuse and/or mental health to include at least three (3) years related program management or program administration – or- an equivalent ten (10) year combination of education, training, and experience

Required Skills:

The background of well-qualified candidates will demonstrate expertise in the following areas:

1) The ability to accomplish goals by effectively leading people and managing material resources; 2) A record of developing and successfully implementing policies and procedures necessary to carry out the mission

3) Knowledge of organizational developmental theory and practice

4) Knowledge of substance abuse, mental health, treatment and recovery programs and services, policies, funding, rules and regulations.
