Associate Business Performance Analyst

The role is responsible for serving as a data and statistics resource for Gas Marketing and Business Development. The position will partner with various groups within DTI to leverage data, statistics, and analytics to discover trends and opportunities to solve business problems and generate value for Dominion. In addition, the position will work with key groups of internal business partners to design, develop, and deploy advanced analytics solutions and assist project teams and the organization as a whole in understanding the types of problems that data science and big data can solve. The individual will work with various data sets using scripts and query tools, perform statistical analysis, and create predictive models. Responsible for presenting analysis and project results to leadership and key decision makers within Dominion. Analyze and improve data driven methods within Dominion’s internal systems (i.e. Dekaflow, SCADA, Dominion App, etc.). Uncover customer journey and behavior on Dominion’s transmission system. Understand marketing strategy and objectives in order to design applicable data analytics, extract insights from data and build predictive and optimization models (forecasting: throughput, revenue, power-gen consumption, customer utilization, system flows, etc.). Retrieve large datasets from internal and external data sources and parse to manageable and understandable data frames (competitive pipeline activities, customer contract expirations, etc.) and develop plans to best service customers.

Job Qualifications

• Required: Minimum of 1 year work experience using SQL database language and common data science toolkits, such as R, SAS, MatLab
• Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms
• Understanding of SQL database language and common data science toolkits, such as R, SAS, MatLab
• Understandingof data visualization tools such as Tableau, Spotfire, etc.
• Ability to use query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig
• Proficiency in applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• Strong planning, organizational and project management skills with the ability to facilitate and/or work on multiple project teams simultaneously
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making
• Effective analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor , Other Education: Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance
