The Team

The Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) Portfolio Management team provides investment advice with respect to over $5.4bn in mortgage related assets. Their use of proprietary technology blends rich asset level detail, quantitative capabilities and strong fundamental insights that provide a differentiated view into fundamentals driving asset performance.

We have an opportunity for a Portfolio Analyst (PA) to join the MBS Portfolio Management team in

Boston.

Profile Summary

The Portfolio Analyst is responsible for a wide range of daily responsibilities that support portfolio management and trading, including monitoring duration, cash, sector targets, security level targets, and assisting Traders. The PA will work closely with the Portfolio Managers and Traders to calculate the effect of any strategy changes on the portfolio and analyze the suitability of the transaction.

The position offers significant growth opportunities as training in securities trading, portfolio analysis, and cutting edge mortgage analytics will be provided. The Portfolio Analyst is a member of the mortgage team and will report directly to the portfolio manager.

Responsibilities

Responsible for trade related activities include maintaining position records, entering information to the fixed-income trading system, and acting as a liaison between trading and operations staff;

Set up securities, field information requests and maintain spreadsheets and databases for all trading related inquiries;

The Incumbent has no direct trading responsibilities but will talk and relay information from brokers and help traders to stay on top of all news and market information;

Manage investment reporting and analytics for the mortgage team, supporting the marketing and client service teams with data requests;

Responsibilities may also include interpreting performance attribution, tracking error reports, generating other portfolio analytics, and tracking market data.

Qualifications

Required Skills

Fixed Income experience a must; preferably as a Junior Portfolio Analyst or Junior Research Analyst;

Trading support experience preferred;

Prior experience working with fixed-income securities a must;

BA/BS degree required. Work toward/possession of advanced degree and/or CFA is desired;

Strong analytical and quantitative skills;

Must be a strong problem solver, able to work with limited direction;

Excellent computer skills, SQL, Excel, VBA, Bloomberg;

Sharp, self-motivated and intellectually curious with excellent communications skills.
