The Department of Recreation and Parks is recruiting for Administrative Clerks, who are part-
time, at-will employees who work up to a maximum of 1040 hours per year, throughout the

City of Los Angeles. Candidates must have a strong community-based knowledge and above

proficient computer skills. Must have excellent time management, project management skills,

and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in order to meet special program and city deadlines.

AVAILABLE HOURS:

  • 20 hours per week based on the budgetary and operational needs of the Department.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Coordinate service request from patrons, city council, Mayor’s office, City staff, and referring
them to the proper sources or taking messages and following up.

Handle heavy phone and email intakes.

Must be efficient and work on timely manner to organize and prioritize service request.
Strong organizational and administrative skills as well as strong attention to detail is critical.

Type letters, reports, statistical and data tables, and other documents from original or
corrected copy, and rough draft.

Work in fast paced environment demanding strong organizational, technical, and
interpersonal skills.

Resourceful and effective in multi-tasking resulting in accomplished results; ability to
set/accomplish priorities.

Effective problem solving and attentive to detail

Great community-based outreach skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be above proficient in Microsoft Office such as MS Word, Excel, One Word, Publisher,

and Adobe conversion, Power point, Publisher, Google Docs, Earth pro, Adobe creative
suite

  • Ability to operate various office machines including computers with various software,

photocopiers, telephone facsimile machines, and related equipment.

  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and a good driving record;
  • Must be responsible, dependable, and possess a “Can-do” attitude;
  • Excellent customer services skills and a desire to work with the public;
  • Ability to understand and follow directions;
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision;
