The Marin County Free Library (MCFL)
is a special taxing district that operates ten branch libraries in Marin under the authority of the Board of Supervisors. MCFL’s mission is to provide welcoming, equitable and inclusive opportunities for all to connect, learn and explore. It delivers public library services to the residents of the unincorporated areas of the County and the cities of Corte Madera, Fairfax and Novato.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Administrative Assistant II prepares, proofs and formats a variety of written correspondence, reports, contracts, policies, procedures, and other documentation; coordinates and maintains weekly agenda items of the Board of Supervisors; and supports departmental committees and recruitment efforts. The Administrative Assistant II will provide administrative support to the Library Executive Team and overall office operations; support development of the MCFL Strategic Plan and staff Learning Opportunities; and work with the FAHr Team on personnel matters. This position has frequent contact with the Board of Supervisors, department heads, external agencies, and the public. A high level of independent judgment and discretion is required in performing complex and confidential work related to the daily operations of the department.

There is currently 1 full-time (75 hours biweekly, Monday through Friday) Administrative Assistant II vacancy in the Library Administrative Office located in San Rafael, Ca.

ABOUT YOU

Our Highly Qualified Candidate: The highly qualified candidate is exceptionally organized, welcomes challenges and change, works independently, has excellent current computer technology skills, and uses initiative and sound independent judgment to make office administration and executive support decisions and resolve problems. The ideal candidate has experience working with personnel information platforms such as TalentQuest; SAP and MUNIS. The ideal candidate is efficient, culturally competent, innovative, accurate, and adept at juggling many competing requirements while effectively accomplishing tasks and maintaining a high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate has experience supporting boards, commissions, committees, convenings, and/or trainings.

We recognize your time is valuable, so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that would demonstrate possession of the knowledge and skills listed on the class specification. Typically, equivalent to three years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience relieving managers, supervisors or program administrators of clerical and administrative duties. Experience in a public-sector environment or dealing with governmental, community and business representatives is desirable.

Disaster Service Workers: All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
