Activities Action Leader

EF International Language Centers (a division of Education First)

Synopsis

EF International Language Centers is seeking a friendly, energetic and organized Activities Action Leader to plan and lead excursions at our English lang uage school in downtown Chicago . The Activities department is essential in getting the students involved in the city of Chicago. The Activities Action Leader will also work closely with the Activities Coordinator on planning and promoting activities to improve the overall student experience. The Role

Reporting to the Activities Coordinator , the Activities Action Leader wears many different hats throughout the day. The hallmarks of success in this role are communication, flexibility and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities include: Creativity by bringing in your own ideas for possible events and being able to follow through from start to finish. Planning and promoting daily activities in the school and around the Chicago area. Being well-versed in the city of Chicago e specially the downtown Loop. Leading groups of students of all ages on excursions and being able to stay through the duration of the event. Serving as a resource for students in regards to many different questions they have throughout the day. This can include practical information such as where to open a bank account, purchase a bus pass, etc. or questions about the school and EF in general. Maintaining professionalism with the student while on activities and in the school. Assisting with general office management tasks such as ordering office supplies, liaising with external vendors and major service providers, occasionally managing the front desk/reception area, and overseeing all incoming/outgoing mail and packages including FedEx/UPS deliveries. Assisting with other special projects/duties as assigned

Requirements

This is an excellent, part-time, entry-level position (20 hours per week) for the right candidate. Prior experience in hospitality, tourism or customer service is preferred. In addition, candidates must possess: Bachelor’s degree preferred Ability to work flexible hours Monday-Friday, including nights and weekends Mus t be available to work from June to the end of August Amazing presence – the ability to own a room and make people feel right at ho me as soon as they walk in our doors! Strong communication and customer service skills along with the ability to work in a very fast-paced, dynamic environment full of daily surprises. Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills plus impeccable attention to detail Patience and understanding working with students of all ages and varying English abilities Flexibility to quickly adapt to shifting priorities on a regular basis A true passion for working across cultures and helping st udents to discover all the Chicago a rea has to offer. International travel experience preferred, foreign language abilities not required but a big plus Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel) Experience with various Social Media platforms including Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook
