Accounting Supervisor

Job Description:

* To supervise, monitor and review all on site accounting activities.

Responsibilities:

* Understand and ensure compliance with all Avalon Finance SOPs.

* Responsible for complete training of staff for job duties of the following positions: Accounts Payable Clerk, General Cashier, Income Audit and Paymaster.

* Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Cashiering, Paymaster and Income Audit as needed.

* Coordinate all on site accounting functions with the Assistant Directors of Finance and Director of Finance. Act as liaison for accounting requests.

* Assist in attaining financial goals.

* Ensure maintenance of all daily filing of documents needed for research requests.

* Ensure all guest disputes and requests for clarification is resolved and/or responded to in a timely manner.

* Ensure an effective tracking system for all rebates/adjustments.

* Work closely with all departments to come up with solutions to Systems & Controls problems.

* Ensure a timely month-end close.

* Produce accurate financial statements.

* Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts as assigned.

* Assist in preparing and filing monthly sales taxes.

* Generate Daily Labor and Revenue Reports as needed

* Prepare monthly journal entries as assigned.

* Assist departments with general ledger research and re-class entries.

* Assist with Audit requests.

* Display and effectively communicate Avalon Culture.

* Any other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications:

* Must have a minimum of three years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality industry. Previous leadership experience preferred.

* College degree required, preferable in Accounting or Finance.

* Candidate must have proven leadership skills and must be able to direct, develop and motivate staff

* Ability to compute accurate mathematical calculations

* Must be service and detail oriented; possessing a friendly approachable demeanor and strong problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail

* Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of your department

* Ability to think clearly, quickly and make concise decisions

* Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and provide guest follow up in a fast paced environment.

* Ability to handle stressful situations, while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor.

* Able to work with management on special projects

* Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management and co-workers, both in person and by telephone.

* Computer proficiency; with developed excel skills.

* The ability to sit and use a computer/phone for long periods of time

* The ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as needed.
