Accountant Associate

The Accountant Associate provides accounting information in a timely and accurate manner to allow for the review and analysis by other accountants, analysts, or management. Also, follow generally accepted accounting principles, government regulations, and company practices and policies in the execution of job assignments.

This position may report to: group Leader, Section Manager, Department Manager, or as assigned. This is an entry level position used to develop professional level accounting skills, which can be properly applied on a daily basis to routine and/or special accounting assignments. The incumbent is introduced via training assignments to the procedures, documents, and accounting controls which are necessary in order to provide meaningful accounting data which may be used for decision making purposes. The incumbent may be assigned special accounting projects and/or routine assignments in order to attain practical on-the-job experience. This training may be supplemented by attending company sponsored academic training courses.

The incumbent may be required to attain working knowledge in the practical use of user friendly computer programs. The incumbent may be challenged to assimilate, in a timely manner, accounting data into a well-organized, accurate, and meaningful report. This position may necessitate interaction with other employees within all areas of the Comptroller’s organization, plus contacts with employees outside the Comptroller’s organization.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare all assigned reports and information in order to adhere to established schedules and requests for information.
  • Assist experienced personnel in providing special accounting reports as required for management decisions.
  • Participate in discussion geared toward correcting out of line conditions and financial implications of matters under discussion.
  • Keep management informed on status of responsibilities, their degree of completion, existing problem conditions, and actions taken.

  • No previous experience required; however, co-op or school work program experience is desirable.
  • Highly skilled in the use of Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Must be self-motivated with good written and communications skills.
