POSITION SUMMARY

The Accountant reports to the Controller of HiAccounting and assists in supporting the accounting and financial activities of the organization’s affiliates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Deliver best-in-class customer service to clients and employees at all times, with an emphasis on being responsive, professional, and accurate.
  • Support and/or perform the monthly closing of the books for assigned affiliate companies on a timely basis.
  • Reconcile assigned bank accounts on a timely basis, assuring that all cash receipts and disbursements have been properly recorded by supervised accounts payable clerks; review ACH transactions recorded by accounts payable clerks for appropriate coding to G/L accounts and supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts for assigned affiliate companies.
  • Assist and/or supervise the reconciliation of intercompany accounts by assuring all transactions are properly recorded at the appropriate entities and the monthly ending balances eliminate through consolidation.
  • Responsible for monitoring expenses of assigned affiliate companies through analyses and comparisons to budget and prior periods, performed in conjunction with timely preparation of financial statements.
  • Preparation and filing of general excise tax returns and other reports to regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Create and update various management reports.
  • Actively contribute to the overall positive culture of the company.
  • Protects organization’s values by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with the company’s established policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

The ideal Accountant is familiar with accounting and financial operations in a fast-paced, for-profit environment. This person will meet most or all of the following requirements:

Education: Bachelors degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience.

Experience: Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles, or any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position.

Computer Skills Proficient knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Prior knowledge of Intacct, QuickBooks or other accounting software is preferred.

Other Requirements Perform other duties as required. Availability to work additional hours or weekends, as projects demand.
