The

Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is one of Georgia’s four health

agencies serving the state’s growing population of approximately 10 million

people. DCH serves as the lead agency for Medicaid and oversees the State

Health Benefit Plan (SHBP), Healthcare Facility Regulation and Health

Information Technology in Georgia for one in four Georgians. Through

effective planning, purchasing and oversight, DCH provides access to

affordable, quality health care to millions of Georgians, including some of the

state’s most vulnerable and under-served populations. Five enterprise offices

support the work of the agency’s four programs. DCH employees are based in

Atlanta, Cordele and across the state.

Section

Job Summary:
The Georgia Department

of Community Health, Financial Management Division, is seeking a qualified

Accountant 3

responsible

for performing

professional accounting duties associated with analyzing, reconciling, and

recording financial data.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES

and

RESPONSIBILITIES:
·

Record

various revenue collection deposits

·

Analyze

and validate recorded transactions timely

·

Research

various transactions timely

·

Review

and monitor daily activity in the bank accounts

·

Record

deposits within three business days

·

Record

adjusting transactions timely

·

Prepare

multiple wire transfers weekly

·

Maintain

various spreadsheets for tracking activity

·

Complete

reconciliations weekly

·

Scan

supporting documents weekly

·

Complete

other duties as assigned

SALARY:
Salary

Range: Up to $52,000

Pay

Grade: K

Current Georgia state government

employees will be subject to SPB rule provisions.

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion

of master’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND

one year of professional accounting experience OR Completion of a bachelor’s

degree from an accredited college or university in a business curriculum which

included completion of introductory and intermediate accounting sequence AND

Three years of professional accounting experience

TECHNICAL

COMPETENCIES

Professional

level work experience recording financial activity in accordance with Generally

Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards, and

statutory accounting requirements

Demonstrated

experience utilizing Excel at an intermediate level, database, and other

related application

OTHER

Qualifications

:

Master’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND One year of professional accounting experience OR Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND Two years of professional accounting experience OR Bachelor’s degree in a business curriculum which included completion of introductory and intermediate accounting sequence from an accredited college or university AND Three years of professional accounting experience.
