Accountant

SUMMARY

The Accountant is responsible for conducting a wide range of accounting activities including daily accounting and financial analysis, Month-end reconciliations and reporting, budgeting and forecasting, inventory analysis, daily banking transactions, and in-depth analysis, as directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and present accounting activities to various business segments on a daily basis
  • Monitor and perform position reconciliations and provide insight into market exposure
  • Reconcile and review general ledger accounts on a recurring basis
  • Provide support for various third party reporting requirements (audits and taxes [income, sales, tonnage])
  • Prepare and present reports and analysis for various subsidiary entities and intercompany transactions
  • Ensure compliance with and development of effective internal controls
  • Operate and understand the various systems and platforms, offer suggestions to enhance and increase software utilization
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives including development, revision, and documentation of standard operating procedures
  • Perform daily and month-end banking activities, including wire and check payments, account reconciliation, cash management and various additional reporting requirements
  • Evaluate and interpret financial data, and present findings in a cohesive and understandable way which provides value to the organization
  • Lead and assist in special project requirements and execution as needed
  • Cross training and support of various other accounting functions

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associates’ Degree in Accounting/Finance or general business
  • 3+ years’ experience in an accounting department
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft office suite, particularly Excel (Pivot Tables, lookup, Macros)
  • Previous experience working with an ERP system

  • Ability to conceptualize, create, and understand complex financial reports and provide in-depth analysis
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and adapt to unique company structure to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to support the accounting department as part of a team based framework
  • Experience with international currency and exchange rates
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Typical hours of work are Monday through Friday from 7:30am –

4:00pm and may fluctuate with business needs, at the direction of or with managerial approval.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

No travel is expected for this position.

This position operates in a professional office environment and requires routine usage of standard office

equipment including, but not limited to, computer, phone (landline and/or mobile device), photocopier,

filing cabinets, and fax machines. While performing the essential duties of this job, the noise level in the

work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
