Accountant – Full Time

Administration Center

Salary Range: $49,386 – $71,083

Summary:

  • Performs month-end close activities including: account reconciliations, general ledger journal entries, financial analysis, and reporting to ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Reconciles bank accounts, investigates outstanding amounts, and follows up on correcting entries and processes.
  • Performs complex grant and cost reimbursement tracking, calculations, entries, and draw down monthly. Facilitates the grant and cost reimbursements in coordination with program staff. Performs all Federal Grants financial management, reporting, audit support, and indirect cost calculations.
  • Provide accounting support to assigned program areas including: preparation of program budgets, performing quarterly program revenue and expense forecasts, and explaining financial concepts to help programs in meeting budget goals and maximizing the use of agency funds. Periodically conducts on-site reviews of business processes at program sites to ascertain compliance with company policies, identify gaps in internal controls, and promote understanding of safeguarding assets and stewardship of funds. Works program staff to establishing budgets and reporting for funders.
  • Performs ad-hoc analyses and reporting of revenue, expense, and volume data to aide in financial management.
  • Prepares audit workpapers and provide support for annual audit and Federal Single audit.
  • Develops accounting procedures and works inside and outside department to streamline processes and improve efficiencies on an ongoing basis.
  • Performs back up responsibilities for other accounting staff as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and three to five years’ of related experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting principles and procedures including accounts receivable and revenue recognition.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Grant billing and collection concepts and policies and processes as applicable.
  • Experience using accounting software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Nonprofit accounting experience.
  • CPA designation.
  • Experience working with Federal Grants.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting software (Serenic, Powerplan, etc.).
  • Advanced Excel and database skills.
