Job Summary

This position assists with the accounting activities and processes for the organization’s operations as a member of the accounting team under the direction of the Corporate Controller.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Completes monthly general ledger account reconciliations.

Accurately records journal entry transactions into the general ledger.

Generates financial reports as required to meet monthly, quarterly and annual processes.

Provides analytical support regarding budget variances, financial statement accounts and financial performance metrics.

Provide support to the annual budgeting process.

Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.

Provides year-end support to the annual audit process and requirements for the preparation of audit work papers.

Provides support to the establishment and documentation of accounting policies, internal controls and operating procedures (i.e. fixed asset accounting, accounts receivable processes, accounts payable, depreciation schedules, etc.).

Minimum Requirements:
Understanding of financial statements, general ledgers, trial balances, accounting theory

Detail oriented with excellent organization and problem solving skills

Willingness to cross-train with other members of the finance team

Ability to work under and meet assigned deadlines

Strong interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively across the organization and with various levels of management

Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative

Experience in affordable housing, property management, or government grant accounting is very helpful

Technology Qualifications:
Experience with Yardi and MAS Accounting Software a plus

Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills

Understanding of accounting software systems

Education and/or Experience:
Degree in Accounting

2-5 years financial accounting experience

Or a combination of education and experience
