00141 – Veterans Service Representative – McGuire

The Veterans Service Representative assists veterans and their dependents in the preparation, presentation and prosecution of all lawful claims for benefits to which they are entitled. Counsels veterans regarding benefit entitlements, assists clients in filing appeals for denied claims. Travels to established locations within the service area on a regular basis or as needed to assist clients and/or perform outreach.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess the ability to comprehend complex laws and regulations and apply to casework and communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Experience working with the general public involving interviewing and compiling information required. Customer service experience and skills required. Computer experience, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Exchange is required. Overnight travel is required. Valid driver’s license required. Some knowledge of medical terminology and laws and regulations governing veteran’s benefits preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using Microsoft Word and internet preferred. Bachelors Degree is preferred. Military experience is also preferred.

Writing samples may be completed at the interview.
