z/OS Systems Software Programmer

We are seeking a z/OS Systems Software Programmer for approximately 40-50 hours a week long term contract.

Roles:

• Install, Implement, configure, and maintain z/OS and ISV software.

• Analyze performance bottlenecks and tune z/OS accordingly.

• Maintain and install coupling facility policies for the z/OS sysplex.

• Provide assistance to staff and customers to resolve mainframe software issues.

• Maintain IBM z/OS and ISV software exits.

• Provide assistance in the maintenance and preparation of project plans for testing and implementing system and ISV software.

• Develop and maintain documentation relevant to z/OS environment including operational procedures, problem determination and problem resolution.

• Provide RACF administration for system users, dataset profiles, facility classes and general RACF configuration.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated effective writing and documentation skills.

• Knowledge of project management principles.

• Knowledge and skill in hardware and software problem detection, isolation, and resolution.

• Proficiency with the knowledge and use of IBM TSO.

• Proficiency with the knowledge and experience of a complex IBM (OS/390, z/OS) multi-LPAR Parallel Sysplex environment.

• Proficiency with the knowledge and use of IBM JCL.

• Proficiency with the knowledge and use of monitors and trace facilities. Required / Desired Skills

• Expert experience as a general systems programmer in z/OS and distributed DB2 environments. (Required 5 Years)
  

• Expert experience as a systems programmer recovering a z/OS sysplex mainframe environment during a disaster recovery exercise at a hot site environment. (Required 5 Years)
  

• Expert knowledge and experience with sysplex policies and coupling facilities. (Required 5 Years)
  

• Expert knowledge and experience with SMP/E. (Required 5 Years)
  

• Expert knowledge and experience with the various software features comprising the z/OS operating system. (Required 5 Years)
  

• Expert knowledge and experience supporting IBM DB2. (Required 5 Years)
  

• Expert knowledge and experience writing and maintaining IBM Assembler programs. (Required 5 Years)
  

• Expert knowledge and experience configuring IBM JES2. (Required 5 Years)
  

• Expert knowledge and experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Syncsort. (Required 5 Years)
  

• Expert knowledge and experience installing, configuring, and maintaining IBM Omegamon software components. (Required 5 Years)
  

• Expert knowledge and experience configuring and maintaining Unix System Services. (Required 5 Years)
  

• Expert knowledge and experience administering RACF in an MVS environment. (Required 5 Years)
